David de Graaf - [ Netherlands ]
Welcome in Holland. A normal week in David’s daily life.
On a Sunday David is doing the dishes. Afterwards he is karting
and playing the bugle with his mother. With Henk, a regular visitor
on Sundays, he always plays a game.
On Mondays David travels with his bike seven kilometres from Wanneperveen
to a swimming pool in Nijeveen. By the way, we see him the whole
week on his bike.
He works on a regularly basis as a volunteer in the Office of the
Dutch Down Syndrome Foundation in Meppel. On Tuesdays he works as
a volunteer in the garden of a home for the elderly. On Wednesdays
he waters the plants in another home for the elderly and on Thursdays
he helps in a playgroup. Unfortunately that job will end.
David likes to go to a fitness centre. On Thursdays he receives
driving lessons in a simulator.
David wants to have a full time job and a good job coach. Now he
always is a volunteer, and nothing is fixed. David wants to do his
leisure activities in ordinary clubs in or near his own village.
David hopes to move into his own residence soon. In preparation
for that his mother teaches him to cook. David’s parents are
worried about his future without them.
